BABSON PARK, Fla. (September 19, 2021) – A strong second half performance propelled the Webber International men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over the Barons of Brewton-Parker on Saturday evening on the Warrior Grass Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Warriors (5-1-0 overall) exploded offensively in the second half, outshooting the Barons (1-6-1) 17-4.
In the 59th minute, freshman
Marc Bonafe would drive into the left side of the box and power a shot over the head of the Brewton-Parker goalkeeper into the top left corner of the net to put the Warriors in front, 1-0. The goal was Bonafe's second of the 2021 season thusfar.
A corner kick from
Mateo Fernandez Sassoni in the 65th minute would find the head of
Leonardo Torcigliani for his first goal of the season and his career as a Warrior. Less than a minute later,
Jay Skelcher-Maxwell would steal a pass just after kickoff and find sophomore
Daniel Perez who would score and give Webber its third goal of the match.
The Warriors final goal would come by way of
Rodrigo Flores Iraheta in the 68th minute from a Fernandez Sassoni pass, giving them a 4-0 lead. Fernandez Sassoni would finish the match with three assists, his second three-assist match of the season.

Neil Cockburn spoke after the match, "It took a while to get into our rhythm, but eventually the team was able to adjust in the second half. I'm very happy with they boy's determination and work rate all the way to the final whistle."
Up next, the Warriors host the Warner University Royals in a nonconference match on Tuesday, September 21 at 4 p.m. on the Warrior Grass Field. Following the Crooked Lake rivalry, Webber will host SCAD Savannah on Saturday, September 25, at 11 a.m. for its 2021 Sun Conference opener.
