Warriors take down Crooked Lake rivals, 4-0, for fifth straight victory

BABSON PARK, Fla. (September 21, 2021) – The Webber International University men's soccer team hosted the Royals of Warner University on Tuesday evening on the Warrior Grass Field, resulting in a dominant 4-0 victory for the Warriors.

It would not take long for the match to get off and running as roughly four minutes after kicking off, Mateo Fernandez Sassoni would drive into the box and draw an early penalty. Jay Skelcher-Maxwell would step up to the spot and convert, as Webber (6-1-0 overall) would draw first blood over the Royals (4-2-2).

The Warriors would double their lead in the 21st minute after a pass from Rodrigo Flores Iraheta would find junior Jesus Chillon for his fifth goal of the 2021 season. Eight minutes later, Webber would earn a free kick that would be sent into the box by Eric Longhorn, finding the head of Skelcher-Maxwell who would place it past the goalie's right side to extend the lead to three.

Webber was defensively sound in the first half, not giving up a single shot in the first half.

In the 83rd minute, the Warriors would tack on one more as Giovanni Galeb would whip in a cross that would fin Fernandez Sassoni to virtually seal the game at 4-0.

Senior Alex Marciulonis would make four saves, all coming in the second half, to maintain the clean sheet. Longhorn, Sebastian Lago, and Leonardo Torcigliani played all 90 minutes in defense, contributing to Webber's shutout performance.

The Warriors complete their nonconference play on a five-match winning streak. They shut out their opponents in four of the five matches as well as outscoring them, 28-2, over the course of the streak.
