BABSON PARK, Fla. (September 14, 2021) - The Webber International University men's soccer team extended their win streak to three on Tuesday afternoon, after a 5-2 victory over the visiting Falcons of College Falcons.
The Warriors (4-1) never trailed to the Falcons (3-3-1) and outshot their opponents 29-9 in the match.
In the ninth minute, newcomer
Marc Bonafe worked his way down the outside of the pitch and played a cross to
Rodrigo Flores Iraheta. Flores Iraheta had no trouble putting the ball in the back of the net to put the Warriors up by one. The lead was extended when, in the 20th minute,
Prince James placed a rebound off the Falcon's keeper into the back of the net.
The Falcons answered in the 32nd minute on a goal from Nicholas Giesing off a cross by Romario Wooley to cut the lead to one. That lead would be restored less than two minutes later when James buried a pass from
Mateo Fernandez Sassoni into the net.
The Warriors went into the half time break up 3-2.
Jay Skelcher-Maxwell would score in the 56th minute on a penalty kick and
Dozie Ozo-Udeze buried a
Jesus Chillon cross into the back of the net to complete the scoring for the Warriors.
The Warriors will attempt to extend the win-streak to four on Saturday, September 18 as they take on the Brewton-Parker College Barons at 3:30 p.m. That game will be part of a soccer double-header at home as the women's soccer team (3-0-1) will look to remain undefeated when they take on the Lady Barons at 1 p.m.
