Women’s beach volleyball goes 2-0 during Pool Play to advance to AVCA National Semifinals

TAVARES, Fla. (April 16, 2020) – The No. 4-seeded Webber International University women's beach volleyball team won both of its Pool Play matches at the American Volleyball Coaches' Association Small College Beach National Championship on Friday, defeating No. 12-seeded Corban University (Ore.) 4-1 and No. 5-seeded Ave Maria University also by a score of 4-1. With the two wins, Webber will now advance to the Gold Bracket to compete for the 2021 NAIA Small College Beach Championship on Saturday, April 17.

Match 2 (Webber 4, Ave Maria 1):

Pairs Challenge Division:
  • In Pool Play, Molly Fusarelli and Hannah Rast defeated Catawba 21-18, 19-21, 15-13 before falling to Spring Hill 21-12, 21-10 to finish in second place.
  • They then fell 28-14 against Texas A&M Kingsville in their Challenge Match, and will now advance to the Silver A Playoff Bracket as the No. 3 seed.
 
Next up: Fourth-seeded Webber will play top-seeded Vanguard University (Calif.) at 11 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, April 17, in the semifinals. If the Warriors win, they will play in the championship match at 2 p.m., but if they lose, they will place in the third-place match at 1 p.m.
