WALESKA, Ga. (March 27, 2021) – The Webber International University men's volleyball team started off the second Reinhardt University POD Tournament this season with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-18) loss against Bluefield College (Va.) before taking the No. 3-ranked team in the NAIA, Campbellsville University (Ky.), to five sets but falling 3-2 (25-15, 20-25, 26-24, 21-25, 15-11). Then on Saturday, March 27, the Warriors rebounded with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-23) sweep over Thomas More University in what was the first ever meeting between the two teams.
The Warriors are now .500 overall on the season at 10-10 and are 8-7 in the Mid-South Conference.

Carlos Jimenez said after the weekend, "It was a rough start for the Warriors on their first match against Bluefield and with the five-set loss to the top team in the conference, Campbellsville, but the team was able to see where they stand as they finish the regular season in terms of matchups. We hope to have some more regularity the next two weeks and we head into the conference tournament."
Match 1 (Webber 0, Bluefield 3):
- Chris Ludwig led the Warriors with 13 kills and a .357 attack percentage.
- Justin Beecher dished out 22 assists and had six digs.
- Daniel Hermida led the teams in digs with seven.
- The first set was 23-22 in favor of the Rams before Bluefield won it on a Warrior attack error followed by a kill.
- The second set was 20-19 in favor of Bluefield before three straight points by the Rams on a solo block followed by back-to-back service aces put them up 23-19.
- Bluefield then hit .375 percent in the third set to finish off the sweep.
- It was the first loss for Webber against Bluefield in program history (4-1).
Match 1 (Webber 2, No. 3 Campbellsville 3):
- Chris Ludwig and Daniel Hermida both recorded nine kills while Gunter Perea Quevedo added eight kills on a .583 attack percentage.
- Justin Beecher had 21 assists and a team-high eight digs.
- Webber was held to a .040 attack percentage in the first set while Campbellsville hit .250 percent.
- In the second set, the two teams were tied at 16-16 before a 5-0 run for the Warriors made it 21-16. Then up 22-20, Webber won the set on a 3-0 run featuring a Tigers' service error followed by back-to-back kills by Hermida and Luis Gustavo Silva.
- In the third set, it was tied at 24-24 before a kill by the Tigers followed by a Warrior attack error.
- A 3-0 run in the fourth set put Webber up 22-17, and then up 23-21, Webber tied the match at two sets apiece on a kill by Zachary Ayala followed by an attack error from Campbellsville. Webber hit a great .526 percent in the fourth set.
- In the final set, Webber fell behind by scores of 11-7 and 14-9. A kill by Ludwig followed by an assisted block by Beecher and Ayala made it 14-11 before a final kill by the Tigers. The Warriors were held to a .000 hitting percentage in the final set.
- Webber fell to 0-7 all-time against Campbellsville.
Match 1 (Webber 3 Thomas More 0):
- Daniel Hermida led the way with a match-high 14 kills, Justin Beecher finished with 24 assists, and Zachary Ayala and Chris Ludwig both had nine digs.
- The Warriors hit .224 percent for the match while limiting Thomas More to only 0.44 percent.
- Webber won the first set on an assisted block by Kai Desauguste and Gunter Perea Quevedo, won the second set on a kill by Ayala, and then came back from down 22-20 late in the third set to win it on four attack errors by Thomas More in the final five points of the match.
Next up for the Warriors will be their Senior Day and final match of the 2021 regular season, which will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, inside the Sabbagh Athletic Conference against rival Warner University.
