BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 25, 2021) – The Webber International University women's beach volleyball team has won the first ever Sun Conference regular-season championship, and is now set to host the first ever Sun Conference Beach Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, February 27.

No. 1 seeded Webber (5-3 overall, 4-1 The Sun Conference) will first play No. 4 seeded Warner University (3-3, 3-2) at 11 a.m. in the semifinals.

The other semifinal matchup will feature No. 2 Ave Maria University (4-1, 4-1) and No. 3 Florida Memorial University (3-2, 3-2) at 1 p.m., followed by the championship match between the two semifinal winners at 3 p.m.

During the regular season, Webber's lone loss in conference play came during its final TSC match of the year against rival Warner this past Monday on March 22 as the Warriors fell by a close score of 3-2.

Webber was declared as The Sun Conference Regular-Season Champion by virtue of its 4-1 season-opening victory over Ave Maria back on February 20, giving the Warriors the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Gyrenes, who went undefeated from that point on.

Webber has been led this season by Hannah Tannone and Penny Gwynn, who were a perfect 5-0 in TSC matches and were 7-1 overall on the season after starting off 6-0.

Shymara Dykes and Brianda Valdez were 4-0 in conference play together and were 5-2 overall after starting off 5-0.

Dykes and Valdez were named TSC Beach Volleyball Duo of the Week on March 9 after two wins over St. Thomas University and Florida Memorial while Jessica Terry and LaRee Crockett earned the same award on March 2 after a pair of wins over Southeastern University and St. Andrews University.
