BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 19, 2021) – In what was the Warriors' final Spring game at home this season, the Webber International University women's volleyball team swept Edward Waters College 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-23) on Friday night inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center.
18 different Warriors saw action in this one as Webber hit an outstanding .545 percent in the first set followed by .429 percent in the second set. The Warriors finished at .356 percent for the match, while Edward Waters hit .000 percent in the first set and finished at .081 percent.
After cruising to victory in the first set, Webber scored five straight points to win the second set by seven and then came from behind by one at 23-22 late in the third set to win the match on a service ace by
Yanileb Figueroa.
Nora Burgos-Heredia finished with a team-high seven kills on a crazy good .778 attack percentage while
Delaney Keown,
Svenja Koenig and
Kelsey McKinley each had five kills. Keown hit .714 percent, Koenig hit .625 percent, and McKinley finished at .364 percent.
Serteria Butler added four kills on a .500 attack percentage, and
Nadia Reid also had four kills on a .333 attack percentage.
Camryn Brown dished out 16 assists while
Paysee Crow had 13 and
Maria Luisa Villalba Vinas had three.
Kayce Kavanaugh led the Warriors' defense with 10 digs while Brown and Keown both added seven.
Both the five kills and the seven digs for Keown were her new career-highs.
Lastly, three different Warriors recorded two service aces: Koenig, Figueroa, and Villalba Vinas.
Webber is now 6-13 on the season while Edward Waters fell to 3-10.
Webber will finish off its 2021 Spring season with two road matches as the Warriors and the Tigers of Edward Waters meet up one more time at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 2, this time in Jacksonville, Florida, and then on Friday, April 9, Webber will play at Florida National University at 6 p.m. in Hialeah, Florida.
