BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 5, 2021) – In what was the Warriors' first of two Spring games this season, the Webber International University men's soccer team was shutout by Florida College 1-0 on the Warrior Grass Field.
It was the second loss during the 2020-21 campaign for Webber (6-9 overall) against Florida College (4-2) after the Warriors also fell to the Falcons by one goal, 2-1, during their second game of the Fall season back on September 14 of 2020.
Webber finished the match with only two shots on goal, both by
Rodrigo Flores Iraheta, and goalkeeper
Alex Marciulonis made five saves. The winning goal for Florida College came in the 63rd minute.
For the Warrior offense, Flores Iraheta and
Eric Longhorn both finished with three total shots while
Andy Obregon and
Isaac Thomas both added two shots.
Webber's best chance to tie the match came in the 83rd minute when
Zachary Auger charged into the box and tapped the ball toward the open goal, only for a Falcons' defender to knock it away at the last second and help preserve the shutout.
Next up, Webber's second game of the Spring season will also be at home as the Warriors host Sun Conference foe Florida Memorial University at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 18.
