BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 25, 2021) – After winning its first two conference series of the season so far, the nationally-recognized Webber International University baseball team will now play at Thomas University in what has been selected as The Sun Conference's Baseball Series of the Week. The Warriors and the Night Hawks will play game one of the series at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 26, followed by a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, at Varnedoe Stadium in Thomasville, Georgia.
Over the last two weekends, Webber (9-7 overall, 4-2 The Sun Conference) has won its conference series over Ave Maria University and No. 15 Keiser University, winning two of the three games in both series. Thomas (3-8, 0-3), meanwhile, was swept by No. 1 Southeastern in its lone conference series so far, but is coming off a 4-3 win in seven innings over No. 7 Faulkner University in their series finale last weekend.
The Warriors have lost each of their last two conference series against the Night Hawks, but will look to turn it around this time and keep their strong start to the season going.
Webber's Head Baseball Coach
Collin Martin said, "Every conference series is a big one. Thomas took a tough series from us here last year, and we haven't taken one in Thomasville since 2013. They've played a really tough schedule and we're coming off a hard-fought series win over Keiser. This weekend is set up to be a tough one, and we're looking to get the Warriors on the right side of it."
