Baseball beats No. 15 Keiser in first TSC home game

BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 19, 2021) – In what was its first Sun Conference game at home so far this season, the nationally-recognized Webber International University baseball team put up four runs in the bottom of the first inning, and that was all the run support the Warriors would need as they defeated No. 15 Keiser University 4-3 on Friday evening on the Heart of Florida Field.

With one out in the bottom of the very first inning and runners at the corners, Angel Diaz tripled to left center to score Norberto Navarro and Steven Lugo, and then Dominique Collie Jr. followed that up with a run-scoring triple of his own to right center to score Diaz.

The final run of the inning for Webber (8-6 overall, 3-1 The Sun Conference) came on the next at bat as Luis Acevedo grounded out to second base to score Colle Jr. and make it 4-0.

The four runs in the first inning for Webber came on four hits, and then after three runs on three hits for Keiser (12-3, 1-3) in the top of the third, Drake Kasparek (2-2) entered the game and held the Seahawks to without a hit over his four innings pitched while walking five and striking out three.

Rey Rodriguez earned his second save of the season by continuing to hold Keiser hitless in the final two innings.

Rougie Odor finished 2-for-3 while Acevedo was 2-for-4.

The Warriors and the Seahawks will now finish up the final two games of their series at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. tomorrow on Saturday, February 20, on the Heart of Florida Field.
