LAKELAND, Fla. (December 14, 2021) – The Webber International University men's basketball team traveled to Lakeland, Florida to battle the undefeated No. 13 Grace College Lancers on Monday afternoon. It was the first time this season the Warriors have faced top-25 opposition and in the end, were defeated 88-59.
Grace (13-0 overall) shot more efficiently as well as having more offensive production out of its rotation. The Lancers scored 33 points from players off the bench compared to Webber's (4-10) 17 points.
The Warriors had a slow first half offensively, shooting just over 34 percent from the field. Despite having more offensive rebounds and more opportunities to score in the first half, the shots just wouldn't fall. Grace on the other hand, shot an even 60 percent, enabling them to jump out to a 20-point lead at the half.
It would be more of the same in the second half as the Lancers would stay hot, seeing out their victory by a final score of 88-59.
Jordan Golden would finish with 15 points in total while gathering a season-high 11 rebounds, gifting him his first double-double as a Warrior. Behind him was
Terrence Lakes with 11 points,
Loro Natana with eight points, and
Tiyon Martin and
Chinecherem Anukaenyi each with six. Martin led the Warriors in both steals (4) and assists (3) in the game.
Webber now returns to The Furnace to take on Brewton-Parker College this afternoon, December 14, at 2 p.m.
