Warriors fall 4-2 to SCAD-Savannah in Sun Conference quarterfinals

SAVANNAH, Ga. (November 7, 2021) - The Webber International University women's soccer team concluded their season with a playoff loss to the No. 25-ranked Savannah College of Art and Design Bees, 4-2 on Sunday.

A hat-trick from Sydney Chura and another goal from Abigail Siddall proved to be too much for the Warriors (10-6-1 Overall, 4-5 SUN) to overcome as the Warriors were only able to find the back of the net twice in the match.

The Bees (12-5-1 Overall, 6-2-1 SUN) out shot the Warriors 33-8 for the game and held a 9-0 advantage on corner kicks.

Chura started the scoring in the 31st minute and found the back of the net again in the 40th minute to give the Bees a 2-0 advantage at the break. Siddall opened the scoring in the second half by netting one in the 49th minute and one minute later Chura got her third.

The Warriors first got on the board in the 51st minute when sophomore Deborah Guillen found the back of the net for her second goal of the season. Senior Leah Hockenberry completed the scoring in the 56th minute with her first goal of the season.

The Warriors conclude a very successful season under first year Head Coach Erik Casterline. The Bees move on to the conference semifinals, where they will take on the Southeastern Fire.
