BABSON PARK, Fla. (November 3, 2021) – In what was the final home match of the regular season for the Webber International University women's volleyball team, the Warriors faced Southeastern University on Wednesday night. Webber held off the Fire's comeback effort, winning 3-2 (25-20, 25-20, 20-25, 22-25, 15-11) after five sets.

The Warriors (12-14 overall, 3-10 SUN) came out strong, fueled by the fans, winning both of the first two sets 25-20. Southeastern (21-12, 7-6) would push to make a comeback, taking sets three and four.

Tied at two a piece, the Fire would jump out to a 3-0 lead after a Webber attack error and two kills from Sandy Cao. Webber would respond however, scoring the next five to take the lead 5-3. Later in the set, the Fire would score twice to cut the Warrior lead to just one at 12-11. A kill from

Teodora Ranitovic and
Bailey Sikkema would create match point for the Warriors. An attack error from the Fire would seal the 15-11 set win and the 3-2 match victory.

Bowen finished the match tying her season-high in kills at 17 while hitting an impressive .317%. She was followed by Sikkema with 15, good for her second-highest tally this season.
Amanda Vega and
Ana Clara Araujo dished out the assists with 26 and 20 respectively. Vega added 17 digs while Araujo finished with 11, both earning a double-double in the match.

Defensively,
Kayce Kavanaugh led the team with 24 digs in the match. It was her second-highest total this season, her previous best being 25, in which she achieved the last time the Warriors played Southeastern.
Kiersten Tisdale had 14 digs while adding six kills and five total blocks. Ranitovic was everywhere defensively for Webber, finishing with an incredible nine blocks in total. Good for a season-high that was previously five.

"It was an extremely close match tonight and we are really connecting as we finish conference play," Head Coach
Matt Geer said after the match. "Teo's (Ranitovic) nine blocks combined with Emily's (Bowen) 17 kills and Bailey's (Sikkema) 15 really shone tonight. We served deliberately and aggressively which showed with our 13 aces. I am extremely proud of their fight and execution on the court."

The Warriors now travel to Warner University to face their Crooked Lake rivals in what will be their regular-season finale. The match will be played on Saturday, November 6, at 2 p.m.
