BABSON PARK, Fla. (October 28, 2021) – The Webber International University women's basketball team hosted Florida National University for its second-straight home game to start the season. The Warriors would put on a show inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center, defeating the Conquistadors 91-51 on Thursday evening.
The Warriors (2-0 overall) held the Conquistadors (0-2) to just 29% shooting and 26.1% from three-point range. Meanwhile, Webber posted a field goal percentage of 47.9% and shot 9-22 from beyond the arc.
Four Warriors reached double-digit scoring in the game, led by
Deja King who scored 23 points. King was lights out from three-point range, scoring 5-6 and shooting 70% from the field in total. She was followed by
Eletra Graham who scored 15,
LeAndra Franklin with 12 and
Dasia Wandick with 10.
Franklin added 10 assists in the game to earn her first double-double of the 2021-22 season.
Samantha Pacheco followed behind with five assists of her own. Wandick led the Warriors with eight rebounds followed by
Tamara Peterson and
Amaya Lasley each with six.
Webber's defense was swarming and forced Florida National into 28 turnovers. Franklin earned five steals, King and Wandick each had four, while Pacheco added three.
The Warriors hit the road for their next two games as first they travel to Columbia, South Carolina to take on Columbia International University on Monday, November 8, at 5:30 p.m. Three days after that, Webber will face Ave Maria on the road in what will be its first Sun Conference game of the season.
