Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s basketball earns fourth win in a row with victory over FMU; important game with St. Thomas up next

BABSON PARK, Fla. (January 28, 2021) – For the second time this season, the Webber International University women's basketball team is on a four-game winning streak as the Warriors earned the season sweep over Florida Memorial University with a 68-55 win on Thursday evening inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center.

Webber (13-4 overall, 9-3 The Sun Conference), which previously defeated Florida Memorial (7-8, 7-7) 86-83 on the road back on December 5 after leading by 21 points in the third quarter, led by as much as 19 points in the third quarter this time around.

However, unlike the first meeting between the two teams, the Warriors never allowed the Lady Lions to get back to within single digits in the third or fourth quarter.

Amaya Small finished with 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to record her fourth double-double of the season. Small shot 7-for-12 from the field and also added two blocks, two steals and two assists.

LeAndra Franklin again padded the stat sheet, finishing with 12 points, a season-high eight rebounds, six steals and four assists.

Eletra Graham added 11 points, Dasia Wandick had eight points and five rebounds, and Paris Copeland finished with eight points, five boards and five assists.

Next up will be yet another battle for second place in The Sun Conference women's basketball standings between Webber and St. Thomas University.

The Warriors and the Bobcats will meet up for the third time this season, but for the first time in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Game time is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 30 as Webber looks to beat St. Thomas on its own court after losing twice to the Bobcats at home earlier this season.

With the win today over FMU, the Warriors now have a half-game lead over the Bobcats in the conference standings.
