JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (September 17, 2020) – The start to the new 2020 season for the Webber International University women's soccer team resulted in a forfeit win for the Warriors over Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Warriors led 6-0 at halftime before the match was called early in the second half due to weather, causing the Eagles to concede the victory.

Although the stats from the match will not count as it did not meet the 70-minue time requirement, Leah Borders, a senior from Lake Wales, Florida, was in the midst of putting together her first career hat trick with three goals in the first half alone.

In all, the Warriors netted six goals in the opening 45 minutes as Borders scored the first two goals of the match on assists by Harlie Ford and Savannah Heggen, respectively.

Heggen then scored herself before Sarah Thigpen made it 4-0 on the assist from Emilie Velez.

Borders' third goal of the opening half was assisted on by Alyssa Rivera, and then Angelina Conde scored unassisted to make it half a dozen goals in one half.

Next up, the Warriors will continue their road trip by heading up to South Carolina to take on the University of South Carolina Beaufort in what will be Webber's Sun Conference's opener and will be USCB's season opener. The Warriors and the Sand Sharks will kick off a 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, in Bluffton, South Carolina.

"It was a great team effort for us today," spoke Head Coach Brian Fallon. "I felt the girls came together and did well. We had a lot of different scores from a lot of different players which is exciting. I am excited for the rest of the season, and it is now onto our next match in South Carolina."
