BABSON PARK, Fla. (June 22, 2020) – Coming off of what was arguably its best season in at least the last six years and after bringing home the Crooked Lake Cup for the first time in three seasons last year, the Webber International University men's soccer team and Head Coach Neil Cockburn have released their upcoming 2020 men's soccer schedule. It will be Webber's 13th season under the direction of Coach Cockburn.

Due to COVID-19 and the recent decision by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the men's soccer season will not be allowed to begin competition until September 5.

In 2019, the Warriors started off the year 3-0 and improved to 7-2 before ultimately finishing the season 9-7 overall and reaching their most wins in a single season since 2013 (six years). Webber also finished 3-6 in The Sun Conference, earning its most TSC wins since the 2015 campaign.

The new 2020 campaign, which currently features 14 matches and six home matches, will be the Warriors' first season playing the majority of their home matches on their new Warrior Turf Field. In 2019, Webber finished the season with a 6-3 record when playing at home.

The regular season for men's soccer begins on the first date allowed, Saturday, September 5, as the Warriors open up on the road at Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida, at 2 p.m.

Then after a nonconference road match at Ave Maria University on the evening of Wednesday, September 9, Webber's first home match of 2020 will see the Warriors battle Faulkner University (Ala.) on Saturday, September 12, at 10 a.m. It will be the first of two matches on the grass field for the Warriors.

Webber's first match of the 2020 season against a team with a record of over .500 in 2019 will not come until the Warriors' fifth match of the regular season when Webber hosts Pensacola Christian College on the turf field at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 17. Despite losing to Webber 2-1 in Babson Park, Florida, in 2018 and 2-0 in Pensacola, Florida, in 2019, the PCC Eagles went on to finish last year's campaign 15-8 overall and were the NCCAA Division-II National Champions. It was their second national championship in three seasons.

After five straight nonconference matches to open the season, each of the Warriors' final nine regular-season matches in 2020 will be conference matches as they open up Sun Conference play at home on the turf field on Wednesday, September 23, at 10 a.m. against Polk County rival Southeastern University, which finished 2019 11-5-4 overall and 4-4-1 in conference play and advanced to the NAIA Opening Round before falling to John Brown University in penalty kicks.

Three days later, Webber's first TSC match on the road in 2020 will come on Saturday, September 26, in Hardeeville, South Carolina, against SCAD Savannah, which Webber defeated 1-0 in two overtimes a year ago. SCAD finished 2019 7-5-2 overall and 5-2-2 in The Sun Conference before falling in overtime against Southeastern in the TSC Quarterfinals.

On Saturday, October 10, at 9 a.m. on the grass field, the Warriors will host Crooked Lake rival Warner University as a part of Webber's Homecoming Weekend festivities, kicking off a stretch of three straight home matches. The Warriors defeated the Royals by scores of 2-1 at home and then 3-0 at Warner last season as the Royals finished up the year with a record of 7-8-1 overall and 3-5-1 in The Sun Conference.

The Warriors will then take on Ave Maria University for the second time in 2020 on Wednesday, October 14, at 3 p.m. before battling Keiser University, which finished 2019 ranked No. 22 in the NAIA, on Senior Day (Saturday, October 24; 2 p.m.). The Seahawks finished up 2019 12-6-1 overall and 7-2 in the conference, were the TSC regular-season Champions, won the TSC Tournament Championship, and won their first match in the NAIA Opening Round.

Webber's final two regular-season matches in 2020 will come on the road as the Warriors travel to Miami Gardens, Florida, for matches against Florida Memorial University on Wednesday, October 28, followed by St. Thomas University on Saturday, October 31. In 2019, Webber finished its season at home and played very tough against the No. 14-ranked Bobcats before falling 1-0 on Senior Day. St. Thomas, meanwhile, went on to become the third team from The Sun Conference to advance to the NAIA Opening Round in 2019.
