Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men’s volleyball steals third set in 3-1 home loss vs. NCAA Division-II Limestone

BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 11, 2020) – The Warriors hit .458 percent to win the third set, but in the end the Webber International University men's volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-14, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21) against NCAA Division-II Limestone College on Wednesday night inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center.

The Warriors hit only .143 percent in the first set compared to .464 percent for Limestone, and then in the second set both teams hit at or below .100 with Webber dipping down to .061 percent.

Then, both teams hit over .300 percent in the third set before the Warriors went back down to .088 percent in set number four.

After winning the third set, the Warriors led 18-17 in the fourth set and were still in it down 20-19 before a kill and back-to-back assisted blocks by Limestone all but put it away.

Daniel Hermida recorded 20 kills and was followed by Orlando Fletcher with nine kills and Justin Beecher with seven.

Kyle Robertson had 22 assists and Tim Rouch Jr. followed with 13.

Rouch Jr. was also very close to a second straight double-double with nine digs. Not to be outdone, Steven Bartlett recorded 16 digs, his sixth straight match with at least 13 digs or more.

Head Coach Carlos Jimenez said, "We started out a little sluggish and were able to recover only after the second set. We tried a few different line-ups that we wanted to see if they would be viable and they gave us some good results for the later sets but it just wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. Overall, it was a good trial to see how we match-up against the remainder of the teams in conference, so we are looking forward to better results this weekend."

Next up for Webber men's volleyball will be the Campbellsville University POD Tournament. The Warriors will take on Thomas More University at 4 p.m. and No. 2 Campbellsville (Ky.) at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 13, before coming back the next day on Saturday, March 14, to face Cumberland University (Tenn.) at 4 p.m.
