BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 28, 2020) – Taking the court for the first time in over a week, the Webber International University men's volleyball team played a competitive match and had a chance to take a 2-1 set lead, but instead the Warriors suffered their second loss against Life University this year inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center. This time, Webber lost 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 25-20) despite leading 20-17 late in the third set.

The Warriors actually held a late lead in the first set as well, leading 21-20 in set number one on a kill by Bryant Herrera before Life rattled off five straight points to win it.

In the second set, Webber led 21-15 on a service ace by Tim Rouch Jr., led 22-17 on another kill by Herrera and then won the set on a kill by Orlando Fletcher followed by an ace by Christian Alvarez-Rivero.

In the third set, Webber led 20-17 on an ace by Justin Beecher, and then a kill by Daniel Hermida made it 21-21. After a service error by the Running Eagles tied it up again at 22-22, Life took advantage of back-to-back errors by the Warriors and then finished off the set with a kill to go ahead 2-1.

Hermida led the way with 13 kills for Webber while Herrera added eight, Fletcher had seven and Beecher had six.

The Warriors also finished with 11 service aces compared to four for Life. Four of those aces came from Beecher while Alvarez-Rivero and Rouch Jr. both added two.

Rouch Jr. also led the Warriors in assists with 16 and was followed by Kyle Robertson with 13.

Last but not least, Steven Bartlett recorded a season-high 17 digs while Hermida added seven and Rouch Jr. had five.

With its second conference loss in a row, Webber fell to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the Mid-South Conference while Life remained undefeated in conference at 5-0 and improved to 8-4 overall.

The Warriors will return to the court tomorrow at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 29, to host yet another Mid-South Conference matchup. Webber will take on the Eagles of Reinhardt University looking to get back into the win column.
