WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (February 25, 2020) – After a doubleheader four days prior in which the Warriors were outscored a combined 20-4 and lost game two in only seven innings, the No. 16 Webber International University baseball team again fell in a shortened game against nationally-recognized Keiser University. In what was the final game of the series between Webber and Keiser on Tuesday, the Warriors fell 19-4 in another seven-inning game.
The game featured a staggering eight home runs, six of which were from Keiser, and had six doubles, four of which were by the Seahawks.
After
Carlo Mancillas gave Webber a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a one-out solo home run to left field, Keiser responded with two home runs and six total runs in the bottom of the first and added a solo home run in the bottom of the second to lead 7-1.
Then, Webber scored three runs with two outs in the top of the fourth inning on a RBI-double by
Tyler Buckner scoring
Orlando Pena followed by a two-run home run to left by
Nolan Soliveres to make the score 7-4.
Yet again, however, the Seahawks answered right back with another six-run inning featuring the second home run of the game by Garrett Hall in the bottom of the fourth to go ahead 13-4, and then Keiser added three more runs on two more home runs in the bottom of the fifth to bring the run while into effect.
It was a disappointing series for Webber (11-6 overall, 3-3 The Sun Conference), which lost a series for the first time this season while Keiser (11-3, 3-2) matched the Warriors' number of wins on the year and got above .500 in Sun Conference play for the first time this season. It was also a little bit of payback for Keiser after it was the Warriors that went 4-0 against the Seahawks last season.
Webber will return to Sun Conference action trying to right the ship this weekend as the Warriors host Thomas University at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 28, followed by the Saturday doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. on February 29.
