BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 15, 2020) – For the second year in a row, the Webber International University women's basketball team completed the two-game sweep over its Crooked Lake rival Warner University as the Warriors were victorious by a score of 78-44 inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center.
Webber led 18-4 after one quarter and 32-13 at halftime after holding Warner to under 10 points in both of the opening quarters.
The Royals shot only 12.50 percent (1-8) from the field in the first quarter and did not score a field goal until with 30 seconds left. Additionally, Webber took advantage of eight steals and 12 Warner turnovers to lead 16-1 in points off turnovers and 12-2 in points in the paint after only 10 minutes.
In all for the first half, Warner was 0-for-10 from 3-point range and was outscored by Webber 18-6 in points in the paint and 16-0 in bench points.
Webber led 6-0 on two layups by
RayGene Garner and another by
Taniya Patrick and then led 13-1 after the first 3-pointer of the game by
Eletra Graham.
Another 3-pointer by Graham followed by a jumper by
Emmarrie Carmen put the Warriors up by 16 at 18-2 with 1:11 left in the first quarter, and then in the second quarter a third 3-pointer by Graham on the first play of the period made it a 17-point game at 21-4.
A layup by
Dysheka Price made it a 19-point margin at 26-7 with six minutes left before halftime before Webber went up by 21 at 30-9 on a layup by Patrick with 3:49 left in the second quarter.
The Warriors' largest lead of the contest was a 35-point margin at 59-24 after a 3-pointer by
Selena Rodriguez with under a minute left in the third quarter.
In all, 14 Warriors scored at least two points or more while six hit a least one 3-pointer.
By the end of the game, Webber's shooting percentages of 50.9 percent overall and 45.5 percent from three were both season highs.

Graham was the lone player on either team to finish in double figures in scoring as she had 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting from three. Graham has now scored and least 12 points and hit at least four threes in five of her last six games, including dong so during each of the last four games in a row.
LeAndra Franklin finished with nine points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals; Garner had eight points; Carmen had six points and six rebounds; Patrick had six points and five boards; and
Paulette Burke had a career-high six points.
Last but not least,
Amaya Lasley added five points, four rebounds and four assists;
Paris Copeland also had five points; and
Breyonna Reed had five assists.
With the win, Webber improved to 16-10 overall and 10-6 in The Sun Conference as the Warriors reached double digit conference wins for the first time since since the 2015-16 season. Warner, meanwhile, remained winless on the season in conference play at 0-16 and fell to 2-24 overall.
Next up for Webber women's basketball is Senior Night at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, against the College of Coastal Georgia. It has been a terrific season for the Warriors, who are currently in fourth place in The Sun Conference women's basketball standings with an opportunity to take down the second-place team in the league during Senior Night.
