BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 14, 2020) – The Webber International University men's volleyball team started off the Webber POD Tournament with a tough 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-18) loss against Life University before the Warriors came back in the final match of the night to win 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-19) themselves over Bluefield College.

Despite the loss against Life (5-4 overall), Webber (5-1 overall) remained unbeaten in the Mid-South Conference at 2-0 with the win over Bluefield (0-5 overall, 0-2 MSC).

Additionally, Christopher Rivera and Bryant Herrera both added five kills, Sabian Cardona Martinez had five digs, and Herrera also led the team with three blocks.

Down 19-18 in the first set, the Warriors went on to take the 1-0 set lead with a 7-0 run featuring three kills by Hermida; and then early in the second set Webber jumped out to a 10-2 lead after an 8-1 run featuring three straight aces by Hermida. The Warriors then increased their lead to 10 at 16-6 before winning the second set by 12 on another kill by Hermida.

In the third and final set, the Warriors led 9-3 early on and increased thier lead to 18-11 before the Rams got back to within four at 19-15 and again at 23-19. A kill by Kenneth Alicea followed by an ace by Alicea finished things off in Webber's favor and kept the Warriors undefeated in conference play.

In the loss against Life, Hermida finished with a match-high 14 kills while Kyle Robertson dished out 15 assists. The Warriors trailed 14-9 in the first set before going up by three at 20-17 following a 6-0 run. Webber then had the opportunity to steal the first set with a 24-22 lead following a kill by Orlando Fletcher, but unfortunately four straight points by the Running Eagles gave the 1-0 lead to Life. Life then closed out the second set on a 7-1 run and won the final set on a 5-1 run.
