BABSON PARK, Fla. (December 30, 2020) – In what was its final game of 2020, the Webber International University women's basketball team earned its fifth in a row over its rival Warner University with a 69-48 victory on Wednesday inside the Turner Athletic Center.
In addition to being the fifth straight double-digit win for Webber (8-2 overall, 4-1 The Sun Conference) over Warner (5-7, 0-5), the win also improved the Warriors' record on the road so far in 2020-21 to a perfect 5-0.
All 15 Warriors in uniform saw action in this one, and 13 of those players entered the scoring column for Webber.
Eletra Graham scored 14 points on 50 percent (4-8) shooting from three, and
Paris Copeland was next with 12 points.
Amaya Small had nine points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots;
Dasia Wandick had eight points,
Rushell Jacob had seven points and six boards; and
LeAndra Franklin added five points, five assists and four steals. Last but not least,
Erica Foote hit a 3-pointer in what was her 2020-21 season debut.
Webber outscored Warner by eight (18-10) in the first quarter and then by nine (22-13) in the second quarter to lead it by 17 (40-23) at halftime. The Warriors sank seven first-half 3-pointers on 15 attempts, good for a 3-point field goal percentage of 46.7 percent, and outscored the Royals 23-5 in the first 20 minutes in points off turnovers.
In the end, Webber outscored Warner 31-8 in points off turnovers, 26-14 on points in the paint, and 14-0 on fast break points. The Warriors' defense, meanwhile, held to Royals to 25 percent or less shooting in three of the four quarters and limited Warner to only 27.3 percent shooting for the game.
Next up, Webber will kick off 2021 by returning to action at Keiser University in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday, January 2, for a 2 p.m. game time.
