BABSON PARK, Fla. (December 15, 2020) – Only three days after their first meeting of the season, the Webber International University men's basketball team played Edward Waters College again, but this time it was at home inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center. In the end, the Warriors fell to the Tigers by a final score of 88-65.
It was also the beginning of a stretch of four games in five days for Webber (5-8 overall). Edward Waters, meanwhile, improved to 2-0 in 2020-21 with both of its games so far coming against the Warriors.
Eddie Davis led Webber in both points and rebounds, finishing with a new career-best 16 points while adding seven rebounds.
Jaylon Myles scored 11 points to go along with six boards, and
Rasheem Etienne had 10 points.
Deante Green scored nine points and had three steals,
Herman Robinson had a new career-high seven points to go along with four assists,
Nasir Stewart-Muir had a career-high five points, and
Jovon Rosse scored his first career point and added three assists.
Webber never led in the game, falling behind 11-2 early on and then trailing by 15 at 21-6 with nine minutes to go until halftime.
The closest Webber would get from that point on in the first half was within eight at 21-13 on a 3-pointer by Green with just under seven minutes left in the half.
In the first half alone, Webber allowed Edward Waters to shoot 51.7 percent from the field while turning the ball over 15 times. The Tigers had 11 steals in the first half and outscored Webber 18-7 in points off turnovers, 24-14 in points in the paint, and 10-0 on fast break points to that point.
Next up for Webber will be a stretch of three games in three days, beginning at home against Florida College at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 17. The Warriors will then play at NCAA Division-I Florida Gulf Coast University in an exhibition game at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 18, in Fort Myers, Florida, before returning to the Sabbagh Athletic Center for its third home game of the week on Saturday, December 19, against Ecclesia College.
