BABSON PARK, Fla. (November 2, 2020) – The Webber International University women's volleyball team fell twice at home against Keiser University, losing first 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-17) and then again 3-0 (25-17, 25-7, 25-8) against a Seahawks' team that entered the day dropping only five sets all season long.
In the second set of match number one, Webber scored five straight to turn a 14-11 deficit into a 16-14 lead and then went up 22-16 following another 5-0 run featuring four kills. The Warriors then went up 24-17 on a kill by
Sara Weisrock and an ace by
Svenja Koenig before winning it five points later on another kill by Weisrock.
As a team, Webber finished with eight blocks in the first match as Koenig had four and
Madelyn Glouner had three.
Nora Burgos-Heredia and
Julia Ferraro both finished with two blocks as well.
Koenig also added 10 kills on a .600 attack percentage in the first match while
Kelsey McKinley led Webber with 13 kills, Glouner had nine kills, and Weisrcok added seven.
Dishing out the assists was
Camryn Brown with 25, followed by
Amanda Vega with 15.
Kiersten Tisdale also had a great all-around match, finishing with 18 digs and five service aces.
Gabriela Lopez added six digs.
In the second match, Keiser hit .696 percent in the second set alone and hit .439 percent for the match while Webber hit -.147 percent in the third set. Vega finished with 10 assists and five digs, Tisdale had nine digs, and McKinley had seven kills. Koenig finished with six kills, a .375 attack percentage, and two blocks, and Glouner had five kills and two blocks as well.
With the pair of losses, Webber fell to 4-8 overall and 2-7 in The Sun Conference while Keiser, the first place team in The Sun Conference, remained undefeated at 14-0 overall and 10-0 in the league.
The Warriors will have two more matches to finish off the regular season, beginning with the College of Coastal Georgia at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4 for Webber's 2020 home finale. The Warriors' 2020 regular-season finale will then come on the road at Ave Maria University on Saturday, November 7.
