TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. (November 16, 2020) – The Webber International University women's basketball team defeated Florida College for the second time this season, this time a 71-58 victory on the road to remain undefeated on the year at 4-0 overall.

In the first quarter, Webber led 9-0 and then led by nine again at 15-6 before a 14-3 run by Florida College put the Falcons ahead 20-18 toward the end of the quarter. Fortunately, on Webber's next possession, Kiajah Smith drained a 3-pointer to give the Warriors a 21-20 lead after the opening 10 minutes.

Then, toward the end of a back-and-forth second quarter, the Warriors finished off the period with a third 3-pointer of the opening half by Dasia Wandick, followed by a fastbreak layup by Paris Copeland to lead it by five at 39-34 at the break.

Webber shot a very impressive 60 percent (6-10) from three in the first half and was 50 percent (16-32) from the field overall.

The third quarter is where the Warriors took control, going up by 10 points at 48-38 on a three by LeAndra Franklin. Four straight points by Copeland put Webber up by 14 at 53-39, and then a pair of free throws by Copeland made it a 15-point game at 57-42.

Last but not least, another three by Smith just before the buzzer at the end of the third quarter kept it at a 15-point margin at 60-45, and then a three by Copeland early in the fourth quarter made it a 20-point game at 65-45.

In all, the Warriors finished with nine made 3-pointers as a team for the second game in a row.

Individually, Copeland led both teams in scoring with a season-high 25 points on 10-for-19 shooting.

Three other Warriors reached double digits in points as Wandick finished with 11, all of which came in the first half, and Franklin and Amaya Small both had 10 points. Franklin also added a new career-high in assists with 11 to record her first double-double of the season.

Also finishing with a career-high on the night was Smith, who did so by reaching eight points.

Next up, Webber will return to the Sabbagh Athletic Center for its first Sun Conference game at home so far this year. The Warriors will host the Night Hawks of Thomas University at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 19. Webber defeated Thomas twice last season, winning by margins of 15 points at home and then 20 points on the road.
