BABSON PARK, Fla. (November 19, 2020) – The first home conference game of the 2020-21 season for the Webber International University women's basketball team resulted in another win for the Warriors, who defeated Thomas University 78-49 to remain unbeaten on the season.
Webber, which improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in The Sun Conference, overcame a tough offensive first quarter to dominate the second quarter 20-1. The Warriors held Thomas to 0-for-10 shooting from the field in the second quarter while shooting over 41 percent from the field themselves and going 3-for-6 from 3-point range to lead it by 18 (32-14) at halftime.
Webber then kept its hot shooting going by shooting over 44 percent in the third quarter followed by a 60 percent mark in the fourth quarter.
"We played excellent on defense, but our spacing on offense and layups still have to improve," spoke Head Coach
Grady Morrell.
The first quarter featured two ties and five lead changes, but a 3-pointer by
LeAndra Franklin to open the second quarter jumpstarted a 12-0 Warrior run to give the home team some an 11-point lead at 24-13 halfway through the period.
