WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (November 14, 2020) – In what was the Warriors' first Sun Conference Tournament match since the 2017 season and was also the team's first postseason match played under current Head Coach
Brian Fallon, the Webber International University women's soccer team saw its 2020 season came to an end on Saturday during the quarterfinals of the annual Sun Conference Tournament. In the end, seventh-seeded Webber fell 5-1 to second-seeded and No. 1 nationally-ranked Keiser University.
After Keiser scored first in the 24th minute, Webber answered back just under two minutes later when
Charlee Lutton chipped the keeper from about 35 yards out to tie it at 1-1. It was the second match in a row against the Seahawks that Webber has scored a goal after previously being shutout in its last seven outings against Keiser.
At halftime, the Warriors found themselves only down 2-1 before an own goal by Webber in the 54th minute made it 3-1. The Warriors were also held without a shot in the second half.
In her final match as a Warrior, senior
Leah Borders finished with three shots.
Starting at goalkeeper for Webber was
Cameron Laine, who finished with 10 saves.
Webber finished its season 4-9-1 overall while Keiser reached the 10-win mark at 10-1 and will advance to the TSC semifinals. The Warriors also finished the season at .500 at home at 3-3, but were 1-6-1 in road matches.
