BABSON PARK, Fla. (October 31, 2020) – The Webber International University women's volleyball team returned to the court for the first time in 28 days for its Senior Day, but unfortunately the Warriors came up short by a score of 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-21) against St. Thomas University.
Honored before the match were seniors
Svenja Koenig,
Julia Ferraro,
Samantha Davila,
Delaney Keown,
Emily Bowen and
Jessica Terry. Davila and Ferraro both finished with four kills, and Koenig finished with three kills and three digs.
Freshman
Nora Burgos-Heredia and junior
Kelsey McKinley led the Warriors in kills with six,
Amanda Vega had 17 assists,
Camryn Brown had 12 assists, and
Kiersten Tisdale led the team in digs with 13.
The Warriors led in hitting percentage .210-.140, led in kills 38-33, led in assists 36-30 and led in digs 53-49, but the Bobcats led in aces 10-2.
Webber, which had not played since October 3 at home against Ave Maria University, is now 4-6 overall and 2-5 in The Sun Conference while St. Thomas is 8-4 and 6-4.
Next up, the Warriors will battle the first-place team in The Sun Conference, Keiser University, in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 2. After that, Webber will host the College of Coastal Georgia at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, and will then play at Ave Maria University on Saturday, November 7, before heading into the final week of the regular season.
