BABSON PARK, Fla. (October 31, 2020) – The Webber International University men's soccer team finished the month of October just the way it started it, with a 2-0 victory over its Crooked Lake rival Warner University. This time around, however, the win for Webber came at home on the Warriors' Senior Day as Webber also secured the Crooked Lake Cup for the second year in a row.
Seniors
Alex Marciulonis,
David Negrin Ruiz,
Mateo Celaya and
Agustin Sanda were each recognized prior to the match as a part of the Senior Day festivities.
After a scoreless first half, Webber scored twice in the second half to secure the win despite being outshot 12-9 in the period.

The first goal of the match came courtesy of one of the Warriors' seniors, Negrin Ruiz, who scored in the 60th minute after a shot by freshman
Jay Skelcher-Maxwell was saved and the rebound was chased down by Negrin Ruiz.
It was the sixth goal of the season by Negrin Ruiz, a senior forward from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain, and was the 14th goal in his two-year career with the Warriors.
Then only eight minutes later, Skelcher-Maxwell assisted on a goal by
Daniel Perez to make it 2-0.
In goal for the Warriors was Marciulonis, a senior from West Palm Beach, Florida. Marciulonis finished with a save on all four of the Royals' shots on goal while Webber finished with 10 shots on goal as a team.

Webber's other two seniors in the class of 2020, Celaya and Sanda, are both in their third seasons as a Warrior, and both hail from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Both were instrumental in helping Webber maintain the clean sheet.
"I was very proud of the boys today," spoke Webber's Head Men's Soccer Coach
Neil Cockburn. "We came together as a team for the victory. We knew it was not going to be easy. Warner had several chances that could have changed the tempo of the game if they had finished them. The boys now have to focus on the quarterfinals no matter where or who we play. We will be ready."
With the win, Webber finished the regular season with an overall record of 5-7 and a record of 4-6 in The Sun Conference while Warner fell to 2-9 and 1-7. It was also the second season in a row Webber won both of its matchups against the Royals.
Although the regular season is now officially over for Webber, the Warriors will await to see where and who they will play in the quarterfinal round of The Sun Conference Tournament, which is set to begin on Saturday, November 14. It will either be the Royals of Warner or the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University that Webber will face.
