BABSON PARK, Fla. (September 12, 2019) – Webber International University has been named a Champions of Character Five-Star Institution Silver Award winner for 2018-19 by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Each year, NAIA schools use the Champions of Character scorecard to measure the pursuit of character-driven athletics. Institutions are measured on a demonstrated commitment to Champions of Character and earned points in character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion. Institutions earned points based on exceptional student-athlete grade point averages and by having minimal to no ejections during competition throughout the course of the academic year.

Schools scoring a minimum of 60 out of 100 points earn the Champions of Character Five-Star Institution Award. Institutions can be recognized as Champions of Character Five-Star Institutions at three different levels: Gold (90-100 points), Silver (75-89 points) and Bronze (60-74 points).

This year, Webber was one of 75 NAIA schools to receiver the silver distinction. Overall, 180 NAIA Institutions earned the Champions of Character Five-Star Institution Award across all three levels.

Additionally, the majority of Webber's sports compete in The Sun Conference, which was one of only 16 conference in the NAIA to receive the Champions of Character Five-Star Conference Award.

"Our Webber Warriors will continue to strive for excellence as we develop student-athletes of character and integrity," said Webber's Director of Athletics Darren Richie. "Our 2019-20 school year goal is to become a Champions of Character Gold member."
