COCHRAN, Ga. (August 23, 2019) – Year two of the
Brian Fallon era for the Webber International University women's soccer team got off to a thrilling start as the Warriors defeated Middle Georgia State University 2-1 in double overtime on Friday at Nesmith Field in Cochran, Georgia.
The winning goal for Webber (1-0) came off the leg of junior

Earlier in the contest and after MGSU (0-1) scored first with 28 minutes remaining in the first half, Webber responded with nearly the same amount of time, 28 minutes, left to play in the second half to tie the match at one goal apiece. The first goal for the Warriors came from

Angelina Conde,
Kelcee Jackson,
Sienna Scully and
Harlie Ford.
In all, Webber finished with eight of its 12 shots going on goal while MGSU finished with 22 total shots, only 10 of which were on target.
Additionally for the Warriors,
Natalie Bartek, a freshman from Jacksonville, Florida, and Mandarin High School, earned the start in goal and finished with an impressive nine saves en route to her first collegiate victory in her first collegiate start.
"Sometimes soccer is all about playing for each other in order to truly play as a team, and that is what we did today," said Coach Fallon. "I am so happy for our girls."
The Warriors will now continue their road trip with a 1 p.m. matchup at Wesleyan College on Sunday, August 25, in Macon, Georgia. Webber will then play two more road matches before playing at home for the first time on Saturday, September 7.
