BABSON PARK, Fla. (December 3, 2019) – Playing in its first game after Thanksgiving Break, the Webber International University men's basketball team won at home for the second time this season and reached 100 or more points at home for the second time, routing Carolina Christian College 106-71 on Tuesday evening inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center.
Both of Webber's 100-point outings at home, both of which have also been victories for the Warriors, have come during nonconference action. The Warriors' other 100-point effort this season came on the road in a 113-108 overtime loss at Florida College during the second weekend of the regular season.
With the win, Webber is now 4-6 overall on the season and is .500 at home at 2-2.
Rasheem Etienne and
Tommie Luke both scored a game-high 18 points while
Corey Corbin was next with 16,
Ariel Watson added 14,
Kevin Grace had 10 and
Jaylon Myles had nine.
For Etienne, it was a season-high in points as he rained in four 3-pointers on seven attempts and was 6-for-9 from the field overall.
Luke, meanwhile added five rebounds and five assists while Corbin was only one rebound shy of a double-double with nine.
Watson and Myles both finished with three 3-pointers on the night while Corbin was 2-for-2 from behind the arc.
Joel Coffey finished with four points, but also tied a career-high with seven blocked shots, and
Kevaun Smith scored his first career points as a Warrior with a 3-pointer to make it 97-66 with 2:30 left in the contest.
The Warriors then reached 100 points on a pair of free throws by Etienne to make it 101-71 with 1:24 left.
The Warriors scored 53 points in both halves and shot 53.3 percent (16-30) from three for the game. In the first half alone, Webber shot 57.58 percent (19-33) from the field and was 72.73 percent (8-11) from three.
Webber closed the first half on an 18-5 run over the final four minutes of the period to turn a narrow 35-32 lead into a 16-point advantage at 53-37. The run started with back-to-back 3-pointers by Myles.
Next up, the Warriors' men's basketball team will return to Sun Conference play with a tough road game at nationally-recognized Southeastern University. Tipoff for the men's contest is set for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, inside the Furnace in Lakeland, Florida.
