BABSON PARK, Fla. (November 15, 2019) – The Webber International University men's and women's basketball teams are both set to open their respective 2019-20 Sun Conference slates on Saturday, November 16, as the Warriors welcome the Seahawks of Keiser University into the Sabbagh Athletic Center.
The women's game between Webber and Keiser is scheduled for 5 p.m. followed by the men's game at 7 p.m.
Webber women's basketball is currently 3-1 overall coming off of two wins of over 30-plus points at home during its last two games. The Warriors also hold a big 80-75 win over NAIA Division-I Tougaloo College during their season opener followed by a good performance during a 78-60 loss at the No. 13-ranked team in NAIA-D-I, Talladega College, already under their belt.
Keiser, meanwhile, is also 3-1 on the women's side with the No. 3 ranked scorer in NAIA Division-I, Emily Patton, in its corner.
For the Warriors,
Emmarrie Carmen ranks sixth in NAIA D-I in 3-point field goal percentage at 63.6 percent while
Taniya Patrick is eighth in field goal percentage (0.629 percent) and 28th in blocks per game (1.5) and
LeAndra Franklin is 19th in steals per game (3.25).
In additional to the identical 3-1 records on the women's side between Webber and Keiser, the Warriors hold a slight edge in margin of victory at 19.25 points compared to 17.0 points for the Seahawks.

Grady Morrell said, "This is a big home conference opener for us that will help us gage our ability to compete in the league this year."
Webber men's basketball is currently 2-4 overall but is coming off of huge 76-62 upset win over NCAA Division-II the University of West Florida only two days ago on Wednesday, November 13. The Warriors are also on a two-game winning streak in the regular season while each of Webber's four losses on the year came come by less than nine points.
"I am very excited to start conference play against such a tough opponent," said Men's Basketball Coach
Allen Corbin. "We have grown over the past 10 days and I hope to continue to improve daily as a team. Saturday will be a great test."
Just like its women's team, Keiser men's basketball is also 3-1 on the year so far. The Seahawks currently lead the country in blocks per game (7.75) and in steals per game (14.25) and boast the NAIA's individual leader in both blocks per game (Chance Anderson, 4.0 blocks per game) and in steals per game (Malcom Mabry, 4.25 steals per game).
For the Webber men,
Joel Coffey ranks third in NAIA D-I in total blocks with 14 and is sixth in blocks per game at 2.33.
Tommie Luke ranks 16th in the country in total scoring (124 points) and is 23rd in points per game at 20.67. Last but not least,
Jaylon Myles ranks 50 in steals with 10.
