  • Webber improved to 2-0 both overall and in The Sun Conference, matching its same number of conference wins from a year ago during Coach Cutshaw's first season with the Warriors. Ave Maria, meanwhile, fell to 0-1 both overall and in the conference after what was its first match of the year.

Notable Men's Results:

Doubles

  • The first singles match to finish was No. 3 singles, where junior Ivan Bondarenko swept 6-0, 6-0, earning his first win in singles action so far.

  • Words from Coach Otis Cutshaw: "It was a good match and a good win for us, especially after losing 6-3 to this team last year and not making the conference tournament. Everyone played hard and was focused on what we needed to do today."

  • Webber improved its record to 1-1 both overall and in The Sun Conference while Ave Maria fell to 0-1 in both categories after its first match of the season.

Next Up:  Next up is another tough but important matchup in The Sun Conference for Webber as the Warriors host their third straight home match to open the season, welcoming the Bees of SCAD Savannah to Babson Park, Florida, on Saturday, February 2. The start time for the match is still being decided. SCAD is currently ranked No. 11 in the NAIA on the women's side, but last season, it was Webber's season-opening 7-2 win over No. 18 SCAD on the men's side that set the tone for Coach Cutshaw's first season with the Warriors.
