BABSON PARK, Fla. (April 7, 2018) – The Webber International University softball team dropped both games against The Sun Conference opponent Saint Thomas University on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, losing game one 6-3 and then falling in game two 8-2 at
Nancy Nichols Softball Field.
Before the game
Laura Borders,
Megan Isoba,
Meghan Lindell and
Ka'Deisha McCowen were all recognized for their excellent careers at Webber in honor of Senior Day.
The seniors certainly led the way offensively, combining for six of Webber's 13 total hits on the day. Isoba had two singles, Lindell added a single and Borders hit two singles off her own and added a solo home run.
Borders went 3-for-8 (.375 average) and was the only Warrior with an RBI in both games.
Sophomore
Victoria Atkinson finished with two doubles in game two, and was the only other Warrior with an RBI on the day. Atkinson, Borders and Isoba were each 2-for-4 in game two.
Making her first start of the season was
Dariyen Moss (1-1), who went four and a third innings in game two while allowing just one earned run on only two hits while also striking out three Bobcat batters.
In game one, freshman
Samantha Rolfe was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
Both games were filled with errors as Webber had 11 on the day and Saint Thomas had seven. Additionally, only half of the Bobcats' six runs off of starter
Raven White (7-4) in game one were earned and only one of the team's eight runs in game two was earned.
Webber fell to 15-12 overall and 7-7 in the TSC, and Saint Thomas improved to 6-17 and 5-9 on the year.
The Warriors will head to West Palm Beach, Florida, as they will face TSC opponent Keiser University on Wednesday, April 11, at 2 p.m.
