BRUNSWICK, Ga. (April 14, 2018) – The Webber International University softball team was swept by Sun Conference opponent the College of Coastal Georgia on Saturday afternoon at the Brunswick High School Softball Complex, losing game one 2-0 and then also falling in game two 5-2.
In game one, starting pitcher
Raven White (7-6) pitched her second complete game of the week and fifth of the year allowing two runs on five hits. White would unfortunately get the loss as the offense could not produce any runs for her for the second straight game. On Wednesday, April 11, against Keiser University, she only allowed one run while taking the loss.
After a breakout performance at Keiser, catcher
Victoria Atkinson kept things rolling against the Mariners by going 4-for-6 on the day and scoring both of the Warriors' runs in game two, including a solo home run to left field in the fifth inning to break up the no-hitter.
Over the past four games this week, Atkinson went 8-for-12 with three home runs, three doubles, four runs batted in and five runs scored.
Other Warriors that had notable hitting performances in game two were
Meghan Lindell adding two hits and
Destiny Moye with an RBI single in her third at bat of the season.Â
Webber is now 16-15 overall and 8-10 in the TSC, and Coastal Georgia improved to 17-21 and 6-12 on the year.
The Warriors will head home to
Nancy Nichols Field to host their last home series of the year against TSC opponent Ave Maria University on Wednesday, April 18, starting at 1 p.m. The Warriors and the Gyrenes split in the first meeting between the two teams back on April 4.
