BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 4, 2018) – The No. 25 Webber International University baseball team's hitting picked up where it left off from Friday, scoring seven runs in game two and coming alive for 11 runs in game three as the Warriors split the final two games of its three-game series with No. 12 Georgia Gwinnett College. Webber fell 10-7 on Saturday, February 3, but rebounded with an 11-6 victory on Sunday, February 4, to salvage its weekend with the first win of its 2018 season.
On Sunday, the Warriors showed signs of life as an offense from the get go, getting solid contract in the first inning and then breaking through in the bottom of the third inning with three runs to take a lead that they would never give up.
Brett Kaminski led off the inning with a single off the right field wall before being brought in by
Tyree Austin, and then
Manny Rodriguez grounded out to shortstop to bring in
Garrett Martin to tie it. Lastly, a sacrifice fly to center field by
Tanner Williams scored Austin to make it 3-2.
Webber (1-4) then scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and added three in bottom of the sixth to blow the game wide open.
Juan Terron (1-0) earned the first win of the season for Webber, pitching the first six innings of the game while holding Georgia Gwinnett (5-1) to six hits and three runs while striking out nine.
Jesse Coleman earned the save with two innings of work to close the game.
M. Rodriguez finished with two runs batted in, a double and a run scored. Austin scored twice and brought in two RBI's, Kaminski scored three times and stole three bases, and
Napo Ballestero walked three times.

Brad Niethammer said, "After not playing our best baseball in the first two games, we bounced back and did a lot right in game three to get a big win. Now it is time to get back to work and be ready for the next game."
One day earlier, the Warriors' offense provided seven runs on ten hits, including three solo home runs from
Alex Rodriguez, M. Rodriguez and
Chris Medina, in the three-run loss on Saturday.
On Saturday, M. Rodriguez led the Warriors at the plate with three hits while hitting what was his second home run of the season to tie the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh.
Langston Provitt and Medina both added two hits while Provitt had a stolen base and
Cristian Rivera had a double.
Rivera's double scored Medina in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game at 1-1, and then Webber took its first lead of the series at 2-1 as Austin entered as pinch runner and scored on back-to-back singles by
Quirino Esquivel and Martin.
In the bottom of the fourth, Esquivel grounded out to bring in Rivera and tie the game at 3-3, the second of three ties on the day.
Next up, Webber will face Ave Maria University in nonconference action on Wednesday, February 7, at 6 p.m. before hosting No. 4 Southeastern University in a three-game conference series on Friday, February 9, and Saturday, February 10.
