JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (November 8, 2018) – The Webber International University women's basketball team avoided being doubled up in exhibition action on Wednesday night against NCAA Division-I Jacksonville University 73-39.
After a close first quarter, Webber only trailed 20-12 until JU imposed its will in its season opener by using a 20-9 second quarter to take a 40-21 lead at halftime.
Webber would not give up however, putting together a good third quarter defensively. The Warriors held JU to only 22.7 percent shooting overall and 16.7 percent 3-point shooting in the quarter, allowing only 12 points.
Stat leaders for the Warriors were
Eletra Graham with 11 points and three rebounds,
Briana Williams with eight points and three rebounds,
Montrese Weller with six points and three rebounds,
Breyonna Reed with four points, five rebounds and four steals,
Dysheka Price with six rebounds, and
Abby Unis with five boards as well.
Next up, Webber will travel to Winter Park, Florida, for a nonconference game against NCAA Division-II Rollins College at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 9.
