BABSON PARK, Fla. (October 27, 2018) – Six different Warriors scored double-digit points as the Webber International University women's basketball team started off its 2018-19 campaign with a 96-63 victory over Trinity College on Saturday night inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center.

With excitement in the air in anticipation for the new basketball season starting, the Warriors did not disappoint from the get go, starting the game up 12-0 less than four minutes into the contest.

The hot start would eventually accumulate to a 24-16 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 51-29 lead going into halftime for Webber.

The Warriors did not take their foot off the gas pedal as they continued to be aggressive on both ends of the court in the second half, which resulted in a 77-46 score at the end of the third quarter and a final of 96-63.

There were many different highlights on the night for the Warriors.

Transfer guard Eletra Graham led the team with 22 points on five 3-pointers while also adding three rebounds and three assists.

Freshmen forward Taniya Patrick started her college career off with a bang as she was the second highest scorer for the Warriors with 15 points on 50 percent shooting from the field. She finished just shy of a triple-double with 11 rebounds and seven blocks.

Other 10 point-plus scorers were Montrese Weller with 14 points on 50 percent shooting with six rebounds and three assists; Abby Unis with 10 points and seven boards; Briana Williams with 10 points, seven assists and three steals; and Breyonna Reed also with 10 points, three steals and nine assists for a near double-double.

Other notable Warriors were Emmarrie Carmen with nine points and seven rebounds and Julie Moreau with 11 rebounds and four points.

Freshman Selena Rodriguez scored the first collegiate basket of her career with a mid-range jumper in the fourth quarter.

Head Coach Grady Morrell had this to say about the season opener, "It was a great team win and I am very happy with the effort of the team, but we have to get better with our pick and roll defense if want to continue to win games."

Next up for the Warriors will be their first away game of the season as they head to Jacksonville, Florida, to face Edward Waters College on Wednesday, November 1, at 6 p.m.
