BABSON PARK, Fla. (January 29, 2018) – Webber International University Athletics was represented twice in the latest Sun Conference Player of the Week awards, announced for the week ending on January 28. Osandai Vaughn of the Warriors' men's basketball team and Hugo Hasegawa of the men's tennis team were each named Sun Conference Player of the Week in their respective sports.

Vaughn, a senior guard from Charlotte, North Carolina, led the Warriors' men's basketball team to two wins on the week as Webber defeated Florida College 92-82 on Thursday, January 25, and then took down rival Warner University 91-90 in double overtime on Saturday, January 27. He averaged 24.5 points, 10 rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals per game on the week.

"I am thrilled for OV and our program," said Head Coach Allen Corbin. "He has really bought in to what I want from him on both ends of the floor. I think it is also fitting that he has played well all year and never won the award. Now that our team is playing better and growing, he is seeing even more success. This is a team award as much as it is an individual award, and I'm sure OV will share it with them this week."

Against the Royals on Saturday, Vaughn finished with 29 points while adding a career-high 15 rebounds for the third double-double of his senior season. Vaughn was also great from the free throw line against Warner, dropping in nine from the line on 11 attempts; and in addition to his great numbers, Vaughn earned a crucial block on Warner's Khalil Ozuna with only one second left in double overtime to help Webber hold on for the big win.

In the win over Florida College, Vaughn added 20 points on five 3-pointers (50 percent from three), while also dishing out three assists.

Hasegawa, a junior from Nice, France, who joined the Warriors just this month, earned a 6-4, 6-2 win in No. 1 singles and won a doubles point 9-7 in No. 1 doubles to help the Warriors' men's tennis team clinch their first victory of the season over No. 18 SCAD Savannah. It was a huge day for Webber tennis after the Warriors were 0-12 in men's tennis just one year ago.

"I'm excited for Hugo to earn the first Player of the Week award for The Sun Conference in men's tennis", said new Head Coach Otis Cutshaw. "He was a big part of why we won this week and it is a well-deserved honor for him to receive."

The award was the first for both players in their careers at Webber.
