TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. (January 25, 2018) – The Webber International University men's basketball team defeated Florida College by 10, 92-82, on Thursday night at Conn Gymnasium in Temple Terrance, Florida.
With the win, Webber returned to .500 overall at 9-9 on the season while Florida College fell to 16-5.
The Webber attack featured lots of strong individual performances in this one as seniors
Johnathan Childs and
Osandai Vaughn both finished with 20 points, freshman
Tommie Luke finished with 19 points and junior
Nicholas Blocker collected his first career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Childs also added seven rebounds, three assists and three blocks while Vaughn and Luke both added five rebounds and three assists and Blocker also had three assists with four steals.
From the field, Childs was an impressive 9-of-13 (69.2 percent) while Vaughn shot 50 percent (5-10) from 3-point range.
Other solid games for the Warriors on Thursday came from
Joseph Serrano, who finished with seven points and five rebounds;
Garrett Woodmansee, who also had seven points; and
Obi Romeo, who collected nine rebounds.
The Warriors trailed 50-45 at halftime despite connecting on eight 3-pointers, but rallied in a big way in the second half to outscore the Falcons 47-32 over the final 20 minutes. Webber was held to under 40 percent shooting both from the field and from three in the first half while Florida College was over 50 percent in both categories, but those numbers flipped in the second half as the Falcons shot under 35 percent in both categories in the second half while the Warriors shot over 55 percent from the field during the final period.

Allen Corbin said, "We showed a lot of toughness tonight and totally turned the game around in the second half. That is hard to do on the road. It has been a really rough week for our team and their response was incredible. I also could not have done this without my assistant and coaching staff, who deserves a ton of credit."
Next up, Webber will host rival Warner University at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, in what will be one of the biggest games of the season for the Warriors. The Warriors currently sit just inside The Sun Conference playoff picture in sixth place in the league standings, and are 0.5 games behind No. 15 Southeastern University, one game behind the College of Coastal Georgia, and two games behind Warner in third.
Fans are encouraged to wear their white t-shirts (White Out) on Saturday as the Warriors look to close the gap against the Royals and pick up some momentum heading into the final month of the regular season.
