Men’s soccer falls at home to Thomas

BABSON PARK, Fla. (September 27, 2017) – The Webber International University men's soccer team outshot the Night Hawks by two, but in the end, the Warriors were unable to finish with a ball in the back of the net as they fell to Thomas University, 2-0, on Wednesday at Warrior Field.

Webber fell to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in The Sun Conference on the season, while Thomas saw its record raise to 3-4-1 and 1-0-1 as the Night Hawks notched their first conference win.

A header from Noel Omondi 11 and a half minutes in signified the first shot of the match, but it would be Thomas' Leo Thompson who six minutes later charged into the Webber defensive box and then converted on a penalty kick to start the scoring.

Aldo Lopez had a shot blocked around the 25-minute mark, and then back-to-back shots by Juan Pablo Zambrano and Omondi in the 28th minute were both stopped as the Warriors attempted to even the score.

Webber continued to try and mount an offensive stance by firing the first five shots of the second half, all within a 14-minute span, but again was unable to connect on the equalizer.

Omondi finished with four shots on the match, one on goal, while Lopez added two total shots and Gary Obrien fired the Warriors only other shot on goal.

Webber's next match will be across the lake at rival Warner University at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 30. It will be the first road conference match for the Warriors so far this season.
