ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (September 17, 2017) – The Webber International University men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the 2017 season as the Warriors fell to Eckerd College, 5-0, on Sunday night at Turley Athletic Complex.
Webber (2-1) fired just four shots in the match, with the first two coming in the first five minutes of action by
Diachi Arahara and
Sam Todd.
Junior goalkeeper
Alistair Shanks made eight saves in his Webber debut, but it would not be enough as the Tritons (2-1) scored three times in a less than two-minute span starting around the 31-minute mark in the first half.
'We will look to grow from this result and learn from our mistakes," said Head Coach
Neil Cockburn. "We will challenge the boys to improve before our next match against Johnson & Wales."
Todd would finish with two shots on the night while the final Webber attempt came from
Charlie Lambert early in the second half.
Next up, the Warriors will look to rebound with the start of The Sun Conference action on Friday, September 22, as they host Johnson & Wales University for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
