Box Score FORT MYERS, Fla. – Webber International baseball opened up their Sun Conference Tournament play against the St. Thomas University Bobcats last night. The Warriors used a 13 hit effort to put up 9 runs as
Anthony Hunter and
Zachary Gary combined to keep the Bobcats at just 1 run and 4 hits off the mound. Webber International advanced with a 9-1 victory.
GAME NOTES: Hunter 4 Hits Bobcats, Martis Drives In 3-RBI's
The Warriors offense fired up early off the bat of
Sjaghbar Martis, he shot a double in the right center field gap scoring
Manny Rodriguez.
Connor Clayton then doubled down as he found the left field line for a double and switched places scoring Martis. The Bobcats registered their lone run in the top of the 2
nd inning. The Warriors knocked in two more the 2
nd and 3
rd inning with a
Manny Rodriguez single scoring
Matt Saliba. Then a
Matt Piatt SAC Fly scored
Marcus Begg. Leading 4-1, the Warriors added 4 more runs in the bottom of the 6
th. With bases loaded,
Cristian Rivera patiently drew a walk plating
Matt Piatt.
Sjaghbar Martis then fired a single into left that sent home
Matt Saliba and
Brett Kaminski.
Marcus Begg came through with an RBI single scoring
Cristian Rivera. The Warriors put the final nail in the coffin in the bottom of the 7
th inning when
Cristian Rivera grounded out but sent home
Matt Piatt giving Webber the 9-1 victory.
