#13 Warrior Baseball Takes Series From #23 St. Thomas

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Sun Conference clashed again as the #13 Webber International University Warriors took on the #23 St. Thomas University Bobcats. The Warriors threw together 2 great wins to take the 3 game series from the Bobcats.
 
GAME 1: Piatt Homers,  Coleman With 4 RBI's, Warriors Use 7-Run 6th Inning To Defeat Bobcats
 
In the top of the 4th inning, Matt Piatt broke a 1-1 tie by smashing a solo shot giving the Warriors a 2-1 lead. The score stayed 2-1 until the top of the 6th inning. Jesse Coleman stepped in with bases loaded and shot one down the left field line for a bases clearing double. Coleman then scored on a throwing error. Manny Rodriguez hit a single back up the middle that scored Cristian Rivera. Mark Martinez also singled up the middle and a throwing error by the Bobcat center fielder allowed Rodriguez to score. Marcus Begg got the last RBI of the inning as he singled in Garrett Martin. The Bobcats were unable to to close the gap as the Warriors took game 1 by a final score of 9-5.
 
STAT LINE: Jesse Coleman led the way for the offense with a 4-4 outing hitting a double and 4 RBI's. Matt Piatt followed going 2-3 with a homer and 2 runs scored. Improving to 4-2 on the year, Anthony Hunter was given credit for the win as he threw 6 innings giving up only 4 hits and 1 earned run.
 
GAME 2: Coleman Homers, Boling Stays Undefeated 4-0
 
The Bobcats fired up in the 1st inning with a 3-run homerun. Sjaghbar Martis put up the first run for the Warriors in the top of the 3rd with a sacrifice fly scoring Cristian Rivera. Webber then had a 4-run 5th inning, followed by a 4 –run 7th with Jesse Coleman hitting a 2-Run shot. Then they had a 3-run 8th inning to seal the deal 12-8 with a Warriors victory.
 
STATLINE: Cristian Rivera was 4-5 at the plate with 1 RBI and 3-runs scored. Tanner Williams was 3-5 with 2 RBI's and 2-runs scored. Jesse Coleman was 2-5 with a 2-run homerun. Juan Terron threw 5 innings getting tagged for 4 earned runs off of 6 hits Max Boling received the win throwing 1 inning only surrendering 1 run off 3 hits. Zachary Gary was credited for the Save as he threw 2 no hit no run innings and striking out 2.
 
GAME 3: Rivera & Begg Homer, Bobcats Offense Opens Up
 
The Bobcats jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning. The Warriors tied it up in the top of the 3rd with Cristian Rivera hitting a 2-run shot scoring Matt Saliba. Marcus Begg then singled in Garrett Martin. The Bobcats added on 3 more before the top of the 6th saw Marcus Begg hit a solo shot cutting the Bobcat lead to 6-4. The bottom of the 6th turned into a nightmare for the Webber pitching staff as the Bobcats pushed across 7 runs taking a 13-4 lead. The Warriors mustered up 1 more run in the 8th inning as Matt Piatt singled in Sjaghbar Martis, but the Bobcats would take game 3 by a final score of 13-5.
 
STATLINE: The only multi-hit player in game 3 for the Warriors was Marcus Begg who went 2-4 with a homerun and 2 RBI's. Cristian Rivera was 1-2 with a homerun and 2 RBI's and a walk.
 
FINAL THOUGHTS: The Warriors improve to 28-8 on the year and leaped ahead of St. Thomas in the Sun Conference now sitting in 3rd place just 1 game back from #11 Keiser University and 4 games back from #4 Southeastern University. The Warriors will receive a couple days off before taking on NCAA D-II Eckerd College Wednesday in 1, 9-inning contest in Babson Park, Fla. With the first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
