Box Score 3 BABSON PARK, Fla. – It was Senior weekend at Heart of Florida Field for the Warriors as they took on the visiting Warner University Royals. In the last home series for the 2017 Webber International University Warriors, Webber pulled together and swept the Royals with a massive offense outpour scoring a combined 31 runs in 3 games.
GAME1: Rivera Homers, Coleman Moves To 5-0
Webber started out strong scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 1
st inning off of a
Marcus Begg triple, a bases loaded walk to
Matt Piatt and a throwing error causing
Connor Clayton to reach base safely and scoring Piatt. In the bottom of the 6
th, it was a 3-3 game until
Manny Rodriguez shot a single down the right field line that scored
Jesse Coleman. The Warriors found themselves trailing 7-4 headed into the bottom of the 8
th. They used a 6 run effort to take the lead.
Matt Saliba singled up the middle scoring
Quirino Esquivel. Then
Cristian Rivera hit a line drive 2 run homerun out to right center field scoring Saliba. Then with bases loaded,
Connor Clayton smacked a bases clearing double that gave the Warriors a 10-7 lead. The Royals added a 2 run homerun in the bottom of the 9
th but it was not enough as the Warriors took game 1 of the series with a final score of 10-7.
STATLINE: Matt Saliba went 3-3 at the plate with 1 RBI and a run scored.
Jesse Coleman was 2-4 with a run scored.
Napo Ballestero also added a multi-hit game going 2-5.
Connor Clayton was 1-5 with 4 RBI's and
Cristian Rivera was 1-4 with a homerun and 2 RBI's.
Brady Mintell threw 7 innings giving up 6 runs, 4 earned runs, off of 10 hits.
Jesse Coleman moved to 5-0 on the year with his 1 inning pitched while he gave up 1 unearned run off 1 hit.
Zachary Gary earned himself his 4th save of the year as he stumbled giving up a 2 run homerun but fought back and closed out the 9
th.
GAME 2: Clayton Hits 3 Run Shot and 2 Doubles Vaulting Warriors to 10-7 Victory
The Warriors jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 1
st when
Marcus Begg hit a sacrifice fly scoring
Manny Rodriguez. Then
Connor Clayton opened up with his first double of the game scoring
Garrett Martin. With a 2-2 tie,
Connor Clayton again stepped in and smacked a 3 run shot over the left field wall extending the lead 5-2. The Royals not only tied it but took the lead in the top of the 6
th inning with a score of 7-5. In the bottom of the 6
th,
Cristian Rivera scored on a wild pitch bringing the game within 1 with the Warriors trailing 7-6. An exciting 7
th and 8
th inning saw
Quirino Esquivel single through the left side of the field scoring
Connor Clayton. Then
Sjaghbar Martis hit a single up the middle scoring
Garrett Martin. To finish off the scoring spree and put the nail in the coffin on the double header,
Matt Piatt rifled a double down the left field line that scored
Brett Kaminski and
Sjaghbar Martis. The Warriors won game 2 by a final of 10-7.
STATLINE: Cristian Rivera went 4-4 at the plate and scored 1 run.
Connor Clayton was 3-4 with 4 RBI's and 2 runs scored.
Sjaghbar Martis went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.
Marcus Begg was 2-3 with an RBI.
Mark Martinez also was 2-4 with a walk.
GAME 3: Begg Hits 2 Homers, Begg and Rivera Combine for 7 RBI's, Warriors Finish Sweep of Royals, Terron Remains Unbeaten
Webber opened up with a 3-0 lead after the bottom of the 1
st.
Marcus Begg stepped in with 2-outs and hit a 2 run homerun followed by
Matt Saliba getting hit by a pitch with bases loaded. In the bottom of the 3
rd,
Jesse Coleman extended the lead by reaching on a throwing error and scoring
Matt Piatt. Then
Cristian Rivera busted it wide open with a double deep to left center scoring
Jesse Coleman and
Connor Clayton. Following the 3
rd, the Warriors were leading 6-0. In the 4
th and 5
th the Royals put together 4 runs and cut the lead 6-4. In the bottom of the 5
th the Warriors added on 1 more run as
Napo Ballestero patiently drew a walk with bases loaded that scored
Jesse Coleman. The Royals cut the lead to 7-6 in the top of the 6
th inning. Webber had enough in the bottom of the 6
th as
Marcus Begg again left the yard for a solo-shot. Then
Cristian Rivera stepped up with bases loaded and shot a single into right field scoring
Connor Clayton and
Matt Piatt.
Manny Rodriguez finished the offensive outpour with a sacrifice fly to center field scoring
Matt Saliba. The Warriors went on to win Senior Day and finish the sweep of the Royals with a 11-7 victory.
STATLINE: Marcus Begg was 3-5 with 2 homeruns and 3 RBI's.
Cristian Rivera was 2-3 with 4 RBI's and a double.
Jesse Coleman also had a multi-hit day going 2-4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.
Juan Terron improved his record to 8-0 on the year with 5 innings pitched giving up 4 runs off 8 hits and striking out 5.
FINAL THOUGHTS: Cristian Rivera, in the last 4 games, has gone 10-14 with 12 RBI's. Webber improves to 35-9 on the year and now sits just 2 games behind Keiser University for 1
st place in the Sun Conference. Kesier took down Southeastern taking 2 of 3 in the series.

The Sun Conference remains open going into the last conference weekend next weekend.
As for the Warriors, they take on Keiser University next Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Keiser in a non-conference matchup. Then they take on Southeastern in their final 3 game conference series starting next Friday.
