(RV)Webber Baseball Takes 2 From Fighting Saints, Clayton Hits Solo Walk-off In Game 2

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International baseball extends to 17-3 on the year. Running away with game 1, 12-7. Then turning around and taking game 2 into extra innings with Connor Clayton hitting a solo walk-off homerun.

GAME 1: Walker Gets First Colligate Win With 2 Hitter, Coleman and Piatt Homer

The Warriors wasted no timing jumping out to a commanding lead. Sjaghbar Martis hit a double scoring Matt Saliba. In the 2nd inning Jesse Coleman hit a 2-run homerun scoring Clayton. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Matt Piatt hit a 3-run homerun scoring Begg and Martis. It wasn't until the 6th inning before the Fighting Saints got on the board as an error in the outfield with bases loaded made the score 9-3 with a Warriors lead. The Warriors took game 1 with a score of 12-7.

STAT LINE:

Pitching for the Warriors in his first ever Varsity start, Blake Walker pitched 6 innings only surrendering 2 hits and 3 unearned runs earning his first win of his varsity career. Mark Martinez went 3-4 on the afternoon. Jesse Coleman was 1-2 with a homerun and 2 RBI's. Matt Piatt was 2-4 a homerun and 3 RBI's.

GAME 2: Clayton Hits 2 Homers Including Walk-Off Extra Innings Solo Shot

Saint Francis struck first blood notching 2 runs in the top of the 1st. They scored another run in the top of the 2nd inning extending their lead to 3-0. In the bottom of the 4th, the hot bat of Connor Clayton came to the plate with runners on 1st and 3rd. Clayton hit a 3-run homer to tie the game at 3-3. All was quiet and the game stayed tied and went into extra innings. Into the bottom of the 8th inning, Clayton again strolled up to the plate. With 2 strikes, 2 outs, bottom of the 8th, Connor Clayton hit an absolute missile out to left field for a solo homerun and earning the Warriors a walk-off victory.

STAT LINE:

Max Boling threw great for the Warriors off the mound as he went 7 innings and only gave up 7 hits and 3 runs while striking out 4. Zachary Gary came in to pitch the top of the 8th inning and sniped his second win of the year throwing 1 inning. Connor Clayton the big man in the game going 3-4 with 4 RBI's. Alex Rodriguez was the designated hitter in game 2 and went 2-3 at the plate.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
The Warriors, now receiving votes for the NAIA Coaches top 25, move to 17-3 on the season. They play again on Friday, first taking on Saint Xavier University at 4:00 p.m. followed immediately after by taking on Lawrence Tech.
