(#11) Webber Softball Drops Series To (RV) USCB

BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber softball took 1-3 from the Sand Sharks. They lost game 1, 9-2 and game 2, 3-2. They took game 3 in walk-off fashion 7-6 in the bottom of the 7th.

GAME 1: Warriors 3-hit By Sand Sharks Pac

Webber came out in game one and seemed to struggle out of the gate. They only managed to throw together 3 hits against the Sand Sharks Abby Pac. With USCB scoring 1 in the top of the 1st, the Warriors tied it up in the bottom of the first with a single from Victoria Atkinson that sore Alyssa Householder. The Warriors only other run came across in the 4th inning when Kaitlin Cockroft singled into left field and Atkinson scored. Webber lost game 1, 9-2.

STAT LINE: Victoria Atkinson, Meghan Lindell and Kaitlin Cockroft had the only hits on the day. Raven White started on the mound and hit a bump in the road as she pitched 5 innings giving up 12 hits and 7 runs.

GAME 2: Spurgeon Throw Complete Striking Out 5, Householder Goes 2-3

The Sand Sharks jumped ahead 3-0 in the top of the 3rd inning. The Warriors struck back in the bottom of the 5th as Kaitlin Cockroft hit her first homerun of the year scoring Taylor Wright. Unfortunately for the Warriors, they were unable to fight back as they dropped game 2, 3-2.

STAT LINE: Alyssa Householder went 2-3. Kaitlin Cockroft went 1-3 with 2 RBI's and her first homerun of the year.

GAME 3: Householder Walks Off With Triple, Hebding Shuts Down USCB With 3 Innings No Hits

Webber jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st as Laura Borders hit a base clearing double with bases loaded. In the top of the 2nd and top of the 4th, the Sand Sharks powered back to a commanding 6-3 lead. In the bottom of the 4th, Alyssa Rodriguez reached base on a fielder's choice that scored borders. Taylor Wright scored on an error by the catcher and that cut the lead to 6-5. Then Alyssa Householder grounded out to the short stop but scored Rodriguez tying the game at 6-6. In the bottom of the 7th with Ka'Deisha McCowen at first, Householder connected with a shot deep to right center that turned into an RBI triple and a walk-off! The Warriors took game 3, 7-6.

STAT LINE: Laura Borders was 3-3 with 3 RBI's. Alyssa Householder was 2-4 with 2 RBI's including the walk off hit. Sabrina Hebding pitched a scoreless hitless final 3 innings to get the win and improve to 2-1 on the year.

FINAL THOUGHTS: The Warriors picked up their first conference win as they move to 7-9 overall and a TSC record of 1-5. They will be back in action on Monday against Central Christian in a double header with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
