Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – What started out as a warm 70 degrees turned into a cold 50 degrees by the end of the game. Webber baseball ripped the cover off the ball as the exploded 17 runs holding the Titans to just 5 hits, winning 17-1.
GAME NOTES: Boling 5 Innings and 8 k's, Piatt & Begg Combine For 10 RBI's
The Warriors hit the ground running as they plated 4 runs in the bottom of the 1
st, followed by 6 more in the bottom of 2
nd. The Titans registered their lone run of the night in the top of the 3
rd. In the bottom of the 3
rd, Webber added on 3 more as
Matt Piatt tripled and scored
Sjaghbar Martis and
Matt Saliba. Then Clayton shot a single into left that scored Piatt. In the bottom of the 4
th,
Marcus Begg flexed his muscles as he hit a towering homerun out deep to left field beyond the scoreboard scoring Martis and Saliba. Then in the Bottom of the 5
th the Warriors plated their last run off a double from
Luis Esteban that scored
Jacob Lopez. The Warriors went on to win 17-1.
STAT LINE:
Leading the way for the Webber offense was
Napo Ballestero,
Matt Piatt and
Sjaghbar Martis. All 3 hitters went 3-4 at the plate. Piatt was 3-4 with 5 RBI's and 3 runs scored, 1 double and 1 triple. Ballestero was 3-4 with 3 singles. Martis was 3-4 with 2 RBI's and 3 runs scored.
Marcus Begg was 2-5 with 5 RBI's and 3 runs scored off 1 single and 1 homerun.
Connor Clayton went 2-4 with a triple and 3 RBI's.
Manny Rodriguez was 2-4 with 2 runs scored and a stolen bag. On the mound to start and picking up his 3
rd win of the year was
Max Boling. Max pitched 5 innings holding the Titans to 3 hits and 1 run while striking out 8 and walking 0.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
The Warriors have now scored double digit runs in 10 games this year. Webber has also moved to 22-4 on the year. They take on tough #5 Keiser University in a 3 game set this weekend. The first game will be played on Friday night with the first pitch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. A double header starting at 12:00 p.m. will take place on Saturday.
